Machine perfusion has transformed liver transplantation. What was once considered an experimental technology is now increasingly used in routine clinical practice, supported by randomized trials, long-term outcome data, and growing international experience. 

In this Köhler Campus webinar, Prof. Dr. Philipp Dutkowski, one of the pioneers of hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (HOPE), will provide an up-to-date overview of the field. Drawing on more than a decade of clinical and scientific experience, he will discuss how machine perfusion has changed liver transplantation, what has become standard practice, and which innovations are currently shaping the future of organ preservation and assessment.

 Participants will gain insight into current indications, organ viability assessment, graft repair concepts, prolonged preservation strategies, and the emerging vision of using machine perfusion not only to preserve organs, but also to optimize and potentially regenerate them before transplantation.
